Modified Bitumen Roofing

The most customizable of our low slope roofing options, modified bitumen comes in styrene-butadiene-styrene (SBS) or atactic polypropylene (APP) product types, which refer to the type of asphalt mated to the sheet. SBS membranes use elastic asphalt, and APP membranes use plastic asphalt. This changes the temperature at which each asphalt becomes viscous and flows. Samuel Dean can install a wide variety of modified membrane roofing options in a variety of application methods including torch applied, asphalt mopped, or cold applied in the adhesive. Modified systems include multiple layers for protection commonly consisting of either single or double base sheets under a modified granulated membrane cap sheet. Modified Bitumen roofing provides excellent protection in harsh weather environments. Developments in modified cap sheets allow customers to choose energy-star-compliant cap sheets with great reflectivity and emissivity ratings.

Single-Ply Roofing

Single-ply roofing comes in three primary forms: Thermoplastic Polyolefin (TPO), Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC), and Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer (EPDM). Each of these systems derives it’s name from the chemicals used to form the roofing membrane. As the name states, low-slope Single-Ply roofing systems consist of a single membrane layer for protection. Single-Ply membranes offer great reflectivity and emissivity properties helping customers meet energy regulations or achieve energy-star ratings and LEED compliance. Single-Ply membranes function well in environments with lipids or chemicals, such as fast food restaurants, that may quickly deteriorate other forms of roofing. Samuel Dean installs single-ply systems in a variety of application methods including mechanically fully applied in adhesive, mechanically attached with fasteners, and RhinoBond induction welded. Single-Ply systems represent a great value option for cost sensitive applications.
